Premise:
Haunted by a devastating encounter with a tornado, Kate Cooper is lured back to the open plains by her friend Javi to test a groundbreaking new tracking system. During her mission, she crosses paths with Tyler Owens, a charming but reckless social-media superstar known for posting his storm-chasing adventures. As storm season intensifies, Kate, Tyler, and their competing teams find themselves in a life-or-death struggle as multiple storm systems converge over central Oklahoma.

Production:
In June 2020, Universal Pictures, the original international distributor of “Twister” (1996), announced the development of a remake. Joseph Kosinski entered early negotiations to both write and direct the film, with Frank Marshall and Sara Scott attached as producers. A year later, in June 2021, Helen Hunt expressed interest in creating a sequel to the original film. However, the studio rejected her proposal to write and direct the sequel.
Release:
“Twisters” had its premiere in London on July 8, 2024, and is set to screen at Italy’s Taormina Film Fest later in July 2024. It is scheduled for theatrical release in the United States by Universal Pictures on July 19, 2024, with an early release in some international markets by Warner Bros. Pictures starting on July 10.
