Mirza: Part 1 – Joker is a 2024 Indian Bengali-language action thriller film, co-written and directed by Sumeet-Saahil. Produced by Ankush Hazra under his production house “Ankush Hazra Motion Pictures”, the film marks his debut as a producer. The cast features Ankush Hazra, Oindrila Sen, Kaushik Ganguly, Rishi Kaushik, Priya Mondal, and Shoaib Kabeer in leading roles, with RP Yadav directing the action sequences.
The production faced numerous challenges, including script disagreements and reshoots with Nexgen Ventures, which led to several delays. Ultimately, Ankush Hazra took over the production under his own banner. The film, the first installment of a two-part series, was released in theaters on April 11, 2024, coinciding with Eid. It received positive reviews from both critics and audiences. A sequel, titled Mirza: Part 2 – Tiger, was announced in a post-credits scene.

Synopsis:
The plot centers on a young boy named Mirza (Ankush Hazra) who enters the criminal underworld to avenge the death of his foster father, Murshid Sheikh (Shantilal Mukherjee). As Mirza climbs the ranks, he confronts Sultan (Kaushik Ganguly), the reigning kingpin of the drug mafia, and Sultan’s son, Azhar (Shoaib Kabir). Initially, Mirza deceives them to gain their trust. However, brutal violence and intense battles ensue as Mirza takes on Sultan and other ganglords aiming to overthrow him.
Meanwhile, police officer Kaustav (Rishi Kaushik) is on a mission to eradicate drugs from society, pitting him against Sultan, Azhar, and Mirza. Amidst the chaos, Mirza falls in love with Muskan, a fisherwoman. Ultimately, Mirza outsmarts everyone and escapes the fray. The story concludes with a cameo appearance by Tiger (Jisshu Sengupta).

Release:
The film was originally scheduled for release on 10 April 2024, to coincide with Eid. However, it was postponed three days prior and eventually released on 11 April 2024.
Box office:
Made on a budget of INR 4.5 crores, the film has grossed over ₹ 1.22 crores in two weeks. In the first week, it had collected more than ₹75 lakhs. The producer informed that they have already recovered 60% of costs from digital and satellite rights after its 1 week run.
