Production:
In April 2021, news surfaced regarding the collaboration between Rama Rao and Siva for NTR30, marking their second venture together since Janatha Garage (2016). The official announcement of the film took place on Ugadi (13 April 2021), with Yuvasudha Arts teaming up with N. T. R. Arts for production. However, due to Siva’s commitments to Acharya and Rama Rao’s involvement in RRR, the commencement of production faced delays.
Siva characterized the project as a “large-scale endeavor with broader commercial appeal” compared to his debut film Mirchi (2013). Following the lukewarm reception of Acharya at the box office, Siva aimed to refine the script, necessitating adjustments and causing further delays in filming throughout late 2022. By November, pre-production activities were underway, with production slated to kick off in early 2023.
Originally slated to begin on 24 February 2023, the production start date was pushed back due to the passing of Taraka Ratna and Rama Rao’s involvement in the Academy Awards campaign for RRR. The film was officially inaugurated on 23 March 2023, marked by a puja ceremony held in Hyderabad in the presence of the cast, crew, and S. S. Rajamouli, who initiated the inaugural shot. The title Devara was officially revealed on 19 May 2023. Later, on 4 October, Siva announced the decision to split the film into two parts.
