“Boomerang” is an Indian Bengali-language science fiction action comedy film directed by Sauvik Kundu. Produced by Jeet under the banners of Jeetz Filmworks and Grassroot Entertainment, the movie features Jeet and Rukmini Maitra in dual roles. The cast also includes Sourav Das, Ambarish Bhattacharya, Kharaj Mukherjee, and Rajatava Dutta in significant roles.
The film’s music and lyrics were composed by Nilayan Chaterjee, with Sanjoy Salil Chowdhury providing the background score. Cinematography was handled by Manas Ganguly, and Sujay Dutta Roy took care of the editing. Action sequences were choreographed by Ravi Verma, while Bosco-Caesar managed the dance choreography. Production:
The film was announced by Jeet on his Twitter handle on 30 November 2022, coinciding with his birthday. The first look of the film was unveiled on 11 April 2024, during the celebration of Eid. The poster generated significant anticipation among fans, particularly because it featured the on-screen pairing of Jeet and Rukmini Maitra for the first time.
Cinebot:
The production of “Boomerang” marked a significant technological milestone in the Bengali film industry by introducing Cine-Bot technology for the first time in any Bengali film.
Superbike:
In addition to the Cine-Bot technology, “Boomerang” features a custom-designed futuristic superbike that plays a crucial role in the narrative. For the first time in a Bengali film, this cutting-edge two-wheeler showcases technology never before seen in Tollywood.
Soundtrack:
The music for the film is composed by Nilayan Chatterjee, with Sanjoy Salil Chowdhury providing the background score. The lyrics are penned by Nilayan Chatterjee and Prashant Ingole.
The first single, “Boomerang Title Track,” was released on 6 May 2024, followed by its Hindi version on 28 May 2024. The second single, “Adwitiya,” was released on 14 May 2024, with its Hindi version, “O Bairiya,” released on 1 June 2024. The third single, “Bon Bon,” was released on 2 June 2024, and its Hindi version was released on 7 June 2024.
Release:
Initially set for release on 10 May 2024, the film’s release was postponed to 7 June 2024 due to the concurrent 2024 Lok Sabha elections scheduled in May.
